I, ____________________________, hereinafter referred to as the adopter, hereby agree that the above described animal is being adopted or purchased by me solely as a pet for myself and/or my immediate family. I agree that I will not sell, give away or otherwise dispose of said animal to any person, dealer, auction, institution or any other entity or abandon said animal for any reason.
If at a later date I am unable or unwilling to keep this pet, I agree to first contact the above described current owner and give them the option to reclaim said pet animal at no charge. If the above described current owner is unable or unwilling to reclaim said pet animal, I will place said pet privately as a pet.
I hereby agree to care for the above described pet in a humane and responsible manner and to provide it with clean and adequate shelter, food, water and veterinary care. Additionally, I agree to meet all special needs or requirements of the adopted/purchased animal indicated below:
PET ONLY CONTRACT-may not be bred without current owner's written consent along with an additional fee of up to $40. IF, for any reason, the animal becomes pregnant, adopter will notify the current owner immediately. Breeding this animal intentionally without the written permission of the current owner is strictly forbidden. In the event the animal is bred accidentally or bred intentionally without written permission, current owner reserves the right to reclaim the animal and/or its offspring (to be delivered to current owner by adopter at adopter's expense) and/or take legal action against adopter. In the event current owner has to take legal action, all related court costs, legal fees, filing fees, attorney's fees, etc. incurred by current owner will be paid by adopter as well as any rewards, financial or otherwise, from the court. | |
BREEDING CONTRACT-This animal has the potential to develop into a rat of sufficient merit so that, while it may or may not be successfully shown to its championship, it is of sufficient type that it could be bred to an equal or better quality rat toward bettering the rat fancy. This animal is sold with a breeding contract and is sold as a pet/show breeder only. This animal, its offspring and future generations will not be sold as food or bred with the intention of producing food for any other animal. In the event it is discovered that adopter is using this animal or its offspring as food for reptiles or any other animal, current owner reserves the right to reclaim the animal and/or its offspring (to be delivered to current owner by adopter at adopter's expense) and/or take legal action against adopter. In the event current owner has to take legal action, all related court costs, legal fees, filing fees, attorney's fees, etc. incurred by current owner will be paid by adopter as well as any rewards, financial or otherwise, from the court. This animal and its offspring will not be bred to any rat of unknown lines or whose pedigree is not known for at least three generations. Adopter will register this rat with the North American Rat Registry, and applicable health notes will be added to the database as issues arise in this rat and its offspring. Before this rat is bred to its carefully selected mate, and within three days prior to said pairing, adopter will consult the NARR database to be sure there are no health updates that would affect their decision. This includes checking for updates on the rat's parents and grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles. Male rats will not be bred before twelve (12) months of age. Female rats will not be bred before six (6) months of age. Breeding options on this animal are not transferrable to any other individual or entity. Adopter agrees to abide by any additional restrictions noted below. |
I agree that the adoption fee of $__________ helps cover the current owner's expense of raising and caring for the animal and is not refundable after a trial period of fourteen (14) days. I understand and agree that the current owner makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about the above mention of the animal's temperament or health and is hereby absolved from any liability for future damages, injuries caused by said animal or veterinary bills. I also understand and agree that the current owner gives no guarantees, expressed or implied, of the suitability of the animal for breeding or for showing. I also understand and agree that the current owner further gives no guarantees, expressed or implied, of the suitability/compatibility of this animal to the adopter and/or his/her family.
